Dual Monitor on Ubuntu/Dapper
I’ve noticed a number of people asking about dual head support in dapper on #ubuntu, so here is my setup:
This hp/compaq nc6000 laptop/notebook that has an ATI card:
$ sudo lspci|grep VGA
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]
I have two head monitors working with both the ‘ati’ and the closed source ‘fglrx’ drivers.
Here are the configuration files:
Before you start hacking around with your xorg.conf, save a copy somewhere safe.

Thanks for posting. I have a friend with a dual head setup who asked me about this the other day. I’m going to forward this to him.

Good day Nozell
You’re post on Dual Monitor support was the first that came up when I searched. I’ve had Ubuntu running for about 3 hours now, and for my first time Linux experience it has been quite good…
Until now.
I see that you have configuration scripts avaliable for running your ATi cards dual monitor support, I happen to have a Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE], and I was wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) could give a new Linux user a pointer in the right direction to find out how to use such configuration scripts.
Thanks
Shane
